Polo shirts came about in the 19th and early 20th century. A form of the shirt was designed for use in tennis and golf. This comfortable shirt was adopted by polo players who up to that time wore thick long sleeved shirts. Although it is more often called a polo shirt it can also be called a tennis or golf shirt.
More often then not, these shirts are made of polyester or, cotton and polyester blends, and sometimes mercerized cotton and are traditionally manufactured from a single colour material.
